During their Tuesday meeting, the Manhattan City Commission unanimously approved a request to construct a frontage road west of Denison Avenue and north of Kimball Avenue to accommodate the North Campus Corridor project.

City Engineer Brian Johnson said the proposal of this new road comes after their initial plans for Denison and Kimball were thrown off by a KDOT delay.

Johnson explained that completing the frontage road this year would jumpstart the Denison and Kimball road construction, allowing the latter to be open before KDOT begins their project.

Johnson noted the frontage road will provide a shorter route for the trucks from Fire Station Number One while portions of the two avenues are closed.

Johnson said KDOT’s closure of Tuttle Creek Boulevard is expected to last from January of 2025 to January of 2026.
