First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has been placed in injured reserve due to a knee injury.
Butker will need arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. By going on IR, he will be sidelined for at least the next four games.
The Chiefs signed kicker Spencer Shrader off the New York Jets’ practice squad to replace Butker on the 53-man roster. The rookie out of Notre Dame is 2-for-2 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points this season.
Butker has scored the 3rd most points in Chiefs’ history with 975.
