A day after qualifying all 13 wrestlers for next weekend’s 6A State Tournament in Wichita, two Manhattan wrestlers won titles to cap regional action, while three others placed second for the weekend.
Ezekiel Witt remained unbeaten on the season in winning by fall over Jamal Garrett of Wichita Southeast for the 113 pound title. Cameron Coonrod held on for a 5-4 decision over Cooper Stivers of Washburn Rural for the title at 126 pounds.
Matthew Long of Garden City bested Caeleb Hutchinson at 120 pounds, Brodye Kocher-Munoz of Washburn Rural beat Logan Lagerman 2-1 to win the 144 pound title. Ayden Flores of Maize remained undefeated on the year by pinning Landon Dobson at 3:11 of the 190 pound championship match.
The top eight wrestlers in each weight class qualified for the 6A tournament at Hartman Arena, meaning the Indians will send a total of 20 wrestlers between the boys and girls teams combined.
Washburn Rural won the team title with 243 points, with Manhattan finishing second with 234.
