Nerds and nerdettes, it’s that time of year again to embrace your inner geekdom. I’m talking about, of course: Planet Comicon Kansas City!

“But what am to do at this convention?” You may ask. Here are some of the biggest attractions going down at Planet this year.

1. Celebrity guests

Who wouldn’t want to meet an actor from their movie, video game, or anime? Planet has a wide range of celebrity guests for you to meet, get autographs, and even attend a panel. Some of the highlighted celebrities this year are Jason David Frank, Ralph Macchio, Sgt. Slaughter, and Booker T.  A full list of celebrity guests can be found here.

2. Comic book creators

It wouldn’t be COMICon without the comics. The Artist Alley is full of comic creators, writers, and illustrators, such as Garth Ennis (creator of The Boys), Jeff King and Ant Lucia.

3. Cosplay contest

What better way to flaunt you inner geekdom than dressing up as your favorite character! This contest shows off the best of the best from casual to the professional.

4. Planet After Dark

If you’re looking to extend the party, there’s even more fun to be had once the convention center closes down for the night. Several events are being held after the doors close in various areas around downtown KC, such as Power and Light District and Union Station.

5. Liberty Bell 7

This year’s convention includes a real life piece of history: the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft! Making its way from the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, this spacecraft is the second manned U.S. spaceflight piloted by one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts.
