MANHATTAN, Kansas (K-State Athletics) –  (16/22) K-State will make its first appearance in the Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase, as the Wildcats face Western Kentucky on Friday morning at 10 a.m. (CT). K-State will face either (18/17) North Carolina or Vermont on Saturday.

Five names, numbers or storylines about K-State women’s basketball
1. Wildcats Debut in AP Poll
• For the first time this season, K-State appears in the Associated Press top-25 as they are ranked 16th. This was the highest K-State was ranked in the poll since the 2008-09 season and highest debut since the preseason poll of 2003-04, when K-State was ranked fifth.
2. Lee Earns Weekly Honors
• For her efforts last week, senior center Ayoka Lee earned her fifth career Big 12 Player of the Week honor, her third career USBWA Drysdale National Player of the Week and her first AP National Player of the Week honor. She averaged 21 points on a .600 field goal percentage, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 steals.
3. Raining Inside and Out
• On a rainy afternoon in Manhattan, K-State rained down a season-high 11 three-pointers against Wisconsin. Six different Wildcats made at least one 3-pointer. This was the first time K-State has had six or more players make a 3-pointer in a game since Dec, 10, 2022, against South Dakota State.
4. Lee Fifth on K-State Career Scoring List
• Senior center Ayoka Lee has scored 1,749 points in her career and needs 57 to move into fourth on the K-State career scoring list (Ashley Sweat, 2006-10; 1,805).
5. Double-Double in Trouble-Trouble
• Ayoka Lee needs one double-double to tie the school record for double-doubles in a career (Kendra Wecker, 52).

• During its win over Wisconsin, K-State handed out a season-high 25 assists on 30 made field goals (83.3 assisted shot rate).
• According to HerHoopStats.com, K-State is the only Big 12 team this season to register 25 or more assists and an assisted shot rate of 80.0 percent or better.
• This was the fifth time in the Jeff Mittie era that K-State has registered 25 or more assists and an assisted shot rate of 80 percent or better.
• The 25 assists were the most since the Wildcats dished out 28 assists against Oklahoma on Jan. 23, 2022.
• In the Mittie era, K-State has handed out 25 or more assists 10 times (9-1).

• K-State capped the home portion of its November schedule with a 75-57 win over Wisconsin.
• The Wildcats outscored the Badgers, 45-18, in the first and third quarters.
• K-State handed out a season-high 25 assists on 30 made field goals.
• The Wildcats had four players in double figures led by Ayoka Lee with 20 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Brylee and Jaelyn Glenn added 11 points while Gabby Gregory notched 10 points.

K-State Among the Rankings
• Kansas State joined the Associated Press (AP) top-25 poll for the first time this season on Nov. 20.
• The Wildcats debuted at 16th, which is the highest debut for K-State since being ranked fifth in the 2003-04 preseason poll.
• This is the program’s highest ranking in the Jeff Mittie era (2014-present). It is the highest ranking for the program since the late stages of the 2008-09 season, when the Wildcats were ranked 16th.
• As an AP ranked team, K-State owns a 226-87 (.722) record. In its history, K-State has now been ranked for 175 weeks in the AP poll.
• The Wildcats debuted this week in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll at 22nd. This is the highest K-State has been ranked in the Coaches Poll since being ranked 22nd on Jan. 16, 2012.

K-State Against Ranked Opponents
• The Wildcats are 88-238 (.270) against teams ranked in the Associated Press (AP) poll including a 56-69 (.448) mark against AP ranked teams in Manhattan.
• The Wildcats were 2-5 in the 2022-23 season against AP top-25 opponents.
• The Wildcats captured its second-ever win over an Associated Press number two ranked foe and first since the 1982-83 season by defeating second-ranked Iowa, 65-58, on Nov. 16, 2023 in Iowa City. K-State is 24-112 (.176) all-time in games against AP top-10 opponents including a 14-34 (.292) mark in games played in Manhattan.
• This was the highest ranked opponent K-State has defeated on the road.
• According to ESPN Stats & Info, K-State became the first NCAA Division I women’s basketball program in the last 25 years to be unranked and defeat the same Associated Press top-5 team in consecutive seasons.
• According to Stats Perform, K-State is the sixth team to defeat the AP second-ranked team on the road since 1999-00.
• The win over Iowa marked the third top-10 win for the Wildcats in three seasons, as K-State downed fourth-ranked Iowa on Nov. 17, 2022, and 10th-ranked Baylor on Jan. 2, 2022.
• K-State is 16-61 (.208) against AP ranked opponents in head coach Jeff Mittie‘s 10 seasons.

We Are An Ag School
• Fans and media may notice a stuffed four-legged friend on the K-State bench this season.
• During the summer, the K-State coaching staff encouraged the team to get gaps which are three consecutive stops on defense and to do this seven times in a game.
• Before the season, head coach Jeff Mittie asked Serena SundellGabby Gregory and Ayoka Lee to make this their own and to embrace the three straight defensive stops. Enter Gap Goat.
• Gap Goat, who can be followed on Instagram (@GapGoat7), is hoisted aloft when the Wildcats register three consecutive defensive stops. Gap Goat lives at the Ice Basketball Training Center and comes to Bramlage and on road trips to get gaps.
• Gap Goat’s apparel includes a K-State jersey and gold chains with one chain featuring a goal number seven pendant.
• Gregory chose a goat because it is her favorite animal.

Wildcats Solid From the Arc
• The Wildcats have continued to spread the floor from long range after a record pace a season ago.
• This season, K-State is shooting 30.7 percent (27-of-88) from 3-point range. K-State’s 27 made 3-pointers represents 28.3 percent of its point total.
• Against Wisconsin on Nov. 19, the Wildcats made a season-high 11 three-pointers and shot a season-best 44.0 percent (11-of-25). The 11 connections came from six different players.
• In the Mittie era, the Wildcats have made five or more 3-pointers in a game 208 times in 296 total games including 33 games with 10 or more connections (w-l: 29-4) from deep.
• In the 10 seasons under Mittie, K-State has buried 1,783 three-pointers which is 6.02 per game.
• K-State fired away from beyond the arc in 2022-23, as they tallied a 265-of-898 (.295) effort from long range. The Wildcats received 31.5 percent of its points from 3-point range, which ranked fourth in the Big 12 and 12th among Power 5 schools.
• The Wildcats made 265 three-point field goals, surpassing the 250-mark for the third time in program history and the first time in the Jeff Mittie era. K-State’s 265 three-point field goals made were the second-most in school history and the most since the 2012-13 season when K-State made a school record 325.
• With its 898 three-point attempts in the 2022-23 season, K-State ranked second in school history for 3-point attempts in a season. This was the third season in school history with 700 or more three-point attempts and the first in the Mittie era.
• K-State’s 7.36 three-point field goals made per game ranked fourth in the Big 12 last season and was the third-highest per game average for a single-season in school history.
• The Wildcats made a season-high 12 three-pointers twice last season: against Clemson on Nov. 24 (12-of-28, .429) and at Kansas on Jan. 29 (12-of-34, .353). The 12 connections were the most since making 12 at West Virginia on Jan. 8, 2022.

Sharing is Caring
• K-State continues to be an unselfish squad at the start of the 2023-24 season.
• The Wildcats have 74 assists (18.5 apg) and own an assist to turnover ratio of 1.8. K-State has tallied an assist percentage of 67.3 through its first four games. The Wildcats are third in the Big 12 in assist percentage.
• Against Wisconsin, K-State dished out 25 assists on 30 made field goals. The 25 assists were the most since handing out 28 against Oklahoma on Jan. 23, 2022. The effort resulted in an 83.3 assist percentage.
• Over the last 16 years, the Wildcats are 82-7 (.921) when handing out 20 or more assists.
• In the 2022-23 season, the Wildcats handed out 516 assists (14.3 apg) and recorded an assist on 61.4 percent of made field goals.
• K-State ranked sixth in the league in assists per game and assist to turnover ratio (0.96). According to HerHoopStats.com, K-State ranked 43rd in the nation and third in the Big 12 in assisted shot rate.
• Since assists became an officially tracked stat in 1981-82, K-State has registered an assisted shot rate of 60.0 percent or higher at the end of a season 23 times in its history.

K-State Holds Foes to Single-Digits
• Entering the ninth season of the quarter system in women’s college basketball, K-State’s defense has limited its opponents point production for 10 minute durations.
• Kansas State is 81-28 (.743) when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter in a game.
• This season, K-State has held its opponents to eight quarters with single digits. The Wildcats are 3-0 this season when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter of a game.
• K-State held Presbyterian and Little Rock to three quarters in each game with single digit scoring.
• The Wildcats recorded 20 single-digit defensive quarters in the 2022-23 season. K-State was 9-5 in games last season in which they held a foe to single digits in any quarter.
• Against Clemson on Nov. 24, 2022, K-State limited the Tigers to nine second half points with four in the third quarter and five in the fourth including a 2-of-18 effort from the field in the second half.
• The nine points were the fewest in a half for a K-State opponent since Feb. 20, 2022, when the Wildcats held Oklahoma State to six points in the first half including a school record for fewest points in a second quarter with two.

Glenn Gains Possession
• Jaelyn Glenn moved into the conversation during the 2022-23 season and beyond as one of the Big 12 Conference’s top defenders.
• This season, Glenn has pocketed a team-leading 10 steals (2.5 spg). She ranks seventh in the Big 12 for steals per game.
• For her career, Glenn has registered 147 steals (2.04 spg) and ranks fifth in school history for steals per game. She possesses 41 games with two or more steals including 14 games with four or more steals.
• In the 2022-23 season, Glenn tallied a team-high 91 steals (2.53 spg). She tied for seventh in school history for steals per game in a season.
• Glenn led the Big 12 in steals per game. She paced the Big 12 and was 11th in the nation, second among Power 5 conferences, for total steals (91).
• Glenn’s 91 steals were the most by a Wildcat since Carlisa Thomas registered 119 steals in the 1986-87 season.
• Glenn pocketed two or more steals in a game a career-best 27 times last season including 10 games with four or more. At Iowa State on Jan. 11, at Oklahoma on March 1 and against Wyoming on March 21, Glenn tied her career-high with six steals. She is tied for second in school history for career games with five or more steals with eight.

Gregory Scores It
• Guard Gabby Gregory was a dynamic addition to the K-State lineup in the 2022-23 season.
• In her career, Gregory has scored 1,459 points (13.1 ppg). She was the first player to transfer to K-State and then reach the 1,000-point mark in her collegiate career. She ranks fifth in school history for career scoring average (17.3 ppg).
• Gregory has scored in double figures 71 times in her career, including 30 games at K-State.
• In the 2022-23 season, Gregory was second in the Big 12 in total points scored with a career-high 648 points and was second in the league in scoring average (18.51 ppg). She shot .411 from the field, including a .327 three-point percentage and an .839 free throw percentage.
• Gregory, an All-Big 12 First Team selection, increased her scoring average by +15.9 points from the 2021-22 season (2.6 ppg) to the 2022-23 season (18.5).
• Gregory ranked 30th in the nation in scoring average and 22nd for total points scored. This is Gregory’s third career season with 300 or more points scored and was a new career single-season high.
• She was second in the Big 12 in games with 20 or more points (19) and second for games with 30 or more points (2).
• Gregory’s 648 points made her the sixth Wildcat to score 600 or more points in a season and her point total ranks fourth in school history for a single season.
• In Big 12-only games in the 2022-23 season, Gregory ranked third in the Big 12 in scoring average (16.94 ppg).
• The product of Tulsa, Oklahoma, earned her first career Big 12 Player of the Week honor following the first week, as she averaged 22.0 points per contest on a 50.0 percent field goal percentage including a 40.0 percent effort from 3-point range, a 90.9 percent effort from the foul line, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Lee a Double-Double Machine
• Ayoka Lee continues to be a double-double machine in her K-State career.
• The product of Byron, Minnesota, registered her 50th career double-double with a 32-point, 10-rebound effort in 22 minutes at Little Rock. Lee was the first player in NCAA Division I since at least the 1999-00 season to register a game with 32 or more points, 10 or more rebounds while shooting 81 percent or better in just 22 minutes.
• Lee’s career double-double total stands at 51, which ranks second in school history and eighth in Big 12 history for career double-doubles. She ranks sixth in the nation among active NCAA Division I women’s basketball players.
• She was the fastest player in program history to 50 career double-doubles. Lee has 10 career double-doubles with 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds, which stands as the most such games in program history.
• Lee is averaging 0.56 double-doubles per game in her career, which is the highest rate in school history. Among active NCAA Division I Power 5 Conference players, Lee ranks fourth in career double-doubles per game.
• Lee completed the 2021-22 season with a school record 20 double-doubles. Earlier in the season, Lee tied her own school record for consecutive double-doubles with six straight. She was 11th in the nation and was second in the Big 12 during the 2021-22 season for double-doubles.
• Lee’s 20 double-doubles set a school record for double-doubles in a junior season, surpassing the previous record of 15 by Nicole Ohlde in the 2002-03 season. She was one of six players in Big 12 history with 20 or more double-doubles in a season.
• Lee is the second player in program history with three or more seasons with 10 or more double-doubles (Kendra Wecker, 2001-05; 4) and is the only player in program history with two or more seasons with 15 or more double-doubles.
• Of the 20 total double-doubles during the 2022-23 season, six efforts reached 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds.
• At South Dakota State on Dec. 11, Lee tallied 38 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. This was her 12th career game with a double-double and five or more blocks, improving on her own school record.
• According to HerHoopStats.com, Lee was the third player since 2009-10 to register a final stat line of at least 38 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks (Elena Delle Donne, 2012; Brittney Griner, 2013).
• In her redshirt freshman season of 2019-20, the center from Byron, Minnesota, achieved a rare single-game milestone, as she became the first player in program history with 20 or more points and 20 or more rebounds in the same game, achieving the feat against Oklahoma on January 25, 2020 (23 points, 20 rebounds).
