A St. Marys woman was seriously injured Saturday in an accident in Jackson County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Carol Jacas was westbound on a rural county road near Highway 75 when she ran a stop sign, striking a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Sierra Phillips.

Jacas was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka with suspected serious injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

Phillips had five children under 10 in the vehicle with her. All six occupants were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
