The Manhattan City Commission unanimously supported an amended tax increment financing plan on first reading Tuesday for the Midtown Aggieville development project.

The decision clears the way to help fund a hotel and a private parking garage for the initially proposed multimillion dollar project that Back 9 Development is planning in Aggieville.

Commissioner Wynn Butler supported the amended TIF plan and cleared any confusion citizens had over the proposed amendment towards the parking garage in comparison to the long term funding plan for Back 9 Development.

The commission will hold a special meeting next Tuesday for a second reading of the amended plan as well as an adoption of an ordinance. The commission is expected then to consider a development agreement for the project on Dec. 19.
