It’s not the first time the town will have electric scooters on its streets and sidewalks. Manhattan previously offered shared-use electric scooters between August 2020 and December 2023, but the partner company, LINK, recalled the scooters after ending operations.

The Veo electric scooters, which cost $1 to unlock and a further 35 cents per minute to ride, are available to people age 18 and up. Users can use Veo’s app to find scooters and scan a QR code on the vehicle, which will allow them to pay to use it. Once they’re is done with the scooter, they’re supposed to park it in an approved spot as designated in the app. They’ll also have to submit a photo on the app to confirm they’ve parked appropriately.
