<div>Authorities say a Manhattan smoke shop is under investigation for the illegal distribution of marijuana and THC products.</div>
<div>The Riley County Police Department executed a search warrant Thursday at Chill Vibes Smoke and Vape, in the 100 block of Sarber Lane, in what they say is part of a larger overall investigation that began earlier this year. Police say it is not linked to any recent enforcement by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.</div>

<p data-end="103" data-start="0">During the investigation, 40-year-old Al-Shawhati Rayd Mohomed-Hezam was arrested on charges of distributing greater than 450 grams of marijuana but less than 30 kilograms, along with two counts of distribution of THC products involving large quantities. He was booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail on a $50,000 bond and remained in custody as of Friday afternoon.</p>

<p>A Manhattan teen arrested in April in relation to two connected shootings at the end of 2024 has since turned 18 and is now being charged as an adult for his alleged crimes.</p>
<p>According to a document filed with the Riley County District Court, Dontaivious Amaru Temple is charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of criminal damage to property valued $1,000 to $25,000, criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle causing bodily harm and criminal use of weapons. He was previously held in the Northwest Kansas Juvenile Detention Center, but has now been transferred to the Washington County Jail.</p>
<p>Temple’s arrest was made as part of RCPD’s ongoing investigation into a robbery and shooting incident that took place Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. His new case is assigned to judge Grant Bannister, but his next court appearance will be Oct. 21 for preliminary examination status with Judge John McNish.</p>
<p><span class="print_trim">News Radio KMAN and The Mercury has previously reported on the incidents. Katrece Dawnnell Johnson, 39, of Manhattan, Dontreveon Stephon Temple-McGlory, 21, of Topeka, Delron Tyree Jr., 17, of Topeka and Victor Fuentes Jr., 20, of Compton, California, were also arrested in April and Clayson Joyce, 22, of Manhattan was arrested in January in connection with the shootings.</span></p>
<p><span class="print_trim">Across both incidents, four adults were shot and taken to Via Christi Hospital for their injuries. Seven children were in the residence at the time of the Dec. 1 shooting. RCPD officials have previously said the investigations remain active.</span></p>

<p>A Manhattan man on Monday entered a plea deal reached with the Riley County Attorney’s Office for two charges he faced in Riley County District Court.</p>
<p>Gary Keith Bouck Jr., 51, pleaded guilty to distributing 10 or less units of fentanyl and using his phone in the commission of a drug felony. The first count reflects a decrease from Bouck’s original charge of conspiracy to distribute over 1,000 units of fentanyl.</p>

<p data-start="285" data-end="584">Officers filed the report Sept. 28 around 2:14 a.m. in the 1000 block of Sunset Avenue. Police said three 18-year-old men were listed as victims after their vehicles — a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2017 Ford Edge, and a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta — were damaged. The total loss was estimated at $3,000.</p>

<p data-start="272" data-end="506">Police said several citizens recently reported receiving calls telling them they needed to turn themselves in to law enforcement over serious legal matters. Authorities emphasized that RCPD will never request payment over the phone.</p>
<p data-start="508" data-end="700">Residents are urged to verify any suspicious calls through trusted sources before sharing personal information. Police advise never making payments over the phone to someone you do not know.</p>
<p data-start="702" data-end="839">Anyone who receives a similar call should contact RCPD at 785-537-2112 to confirm whether it was an officer or employee making contact.</p>

Yasser Mauricio Vasquez Rostran, 26, of Manhattan, was arrested by the Kansas Highway Patrol just after midnight Sunday near Juliette Avenue and Moro Street. He faces charges of driving under the influence and operating a vehicle without a valid license. Vasquez Rostran was issued a $750 bond.</p>

<p data-start="146" data-end="344">Riley County Police responded to more than 20 incidents late last week, including accidents, drug activity, fraud, larceny, and two reported sex offenses, according to department logs.</p>
<p data-start="346" data-end="846">Among the calls, officers investigated an injury crash Friday afternoon at North Main Street and Madison Road in Riley, as well as several non-injury crashes across Manhattan. Police also responded to a reported criminal threat at Flint Hills Job Corps and documented domestic disturbances on Friday and early Saturday. A drug case was reported just after midnight Saturday at Tate’s in Aggieville, along with a larceny at a Humboldt Street address hours later.</p>
<p data-start="848" data-end="1521">Eight arrests were made during the reporting period. Those included three DUI arrests — 22-year-old Ariana Nichole Fletcher, 37-year-old John Matthew Chubb, and 52-year-old Sean Leslie Mellstrom, who was also charged with operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device. Other arrests included 21-year-old Aler Lee Glenn of Manhattan on suspicion of domestic battery, 43-year-old Kenneth Wayne Endicott Jr. of St. George on a theft charge, and 45-year-old Maurice Dwayne McGee of Ogden on an extradition warrant. Two others, Abigail Annamaria Edwards and Derek Williams Jr., were jailed on failure-to-appear warrants.</p>
<p data-start="1523" data-end="1580">In total, 24 incidents and eight arrests were recorded.</p>

<p data-start="0" data-end="102">The RCPD reported 24 incidents and 11 arrests between Aug. 22 and Aug. 23.</p>
<p data-start="104" data-end="561">According to the incident log, officers responded to multiple calls including non-injury crashes on Eureka Terrace, N. Manhattan Avenue and Beechwood Terrace. Reports also included larcenies at Walmart and Rickel’s Liquor in Manhattan, a criminal threat at Ogden Elementary, and several domestic-related cases. Officers additionally handled a DUI arrest early Saturday morning at Leavenworth Street and N. 14th Street.</p>
<p data-start="563" data-end="1158">Among the arrests, 21-year-old Caitlyn Nicole Norman of Junction City was arrested for driving under the influence after a stop in the 300 block of N. 14th Street. Bond was set at $750. Richard D. Santiago, 63, of Manhattan was taken into custody early Saturday for domestic battery and interference with law enforcement, with bond set at $5,000. Police also arrested 26-year-old Samuel Jordan Zachary Thomas of Junction City for DUI, 42-year-old Stacie Renae Espinosa of Topeka for probation violation, and 36-year-old Christopher James Collins of Lincoln, Nebraska on an extradition warrant.</p>
<p data-start="1160" data-end="1494">Additional arrests over the two days involved probation violations, theft, and shoplifting charges.</p>
