Cooling shelters are available in the Manhattan area for the public to get a break from the heat.

Daytime locations in Manhattan include Be Able, the Manhattan City Hall lobby, the Flint Hills Discovery Center, the Manhattan Public Library, Manhattan Senior Center, Manhattan Town Center, the Riley County Historical Museum and The Salvation Army. The Anthony, Douglass, and Eisenhower Recreation Centers are also available. The Ogden Community Center is available to residents in Ogden.

Overnight shelters include the Manhattan Emergency Shelter on 4th Street and the Riley County Police Department’s public lobby at 1001 Seth Child Road.

Hours of operation may vary, but can be found at on the Riley County website.
