Riley County police are investigating a vehicle theft reported Wednesday morning in the 800 block of Laramie Street.

Officers filed the report at approximately 10:16 a.m. on Oct. 22 after a 19-year-old man reported his Honda motorcycle had been stolen by an unknown suspect. The estimated total loss is $2,700.

Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact the Riley County Police Department or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Tips made through Crime Stoppers can be submitted anonymously and may qualify the tipster for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

A Manhattan man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with a report of criminal damage to property and intimidation of a witness, according to the Riley County Police Department.

Officers filed the report at approximately 6:34 p.m. on Oct. 22. A 27-year-old woman was listed as the victim, and the suspect was identified as a 33-year-old man known to her.

Michael Brooks, 33, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 9:08 p.m. the same evening on charges of criminal damage to property and intimidation of a witness or victim. He was issued a total bond of $6,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

William Benner, 24, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the 400 block of Fort Riley Blvd., on a Riley County District Court warrant and a Manhattan Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear. This arrest stems from original charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license, respectively. Benner was also charged with interference with a law enforcement officer and trafficking contraband into a correctional facility. Benner was issued a total bond of $18,500 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Authorities are investigating a home burglary reported Saturday afternoon in Manhattan.

Riley County Police were called out to the 400 block of Walters Drive where a 51-year-old woman claimed someone broke into her home and stole a safe containing a large amount of cash. Police estimate the loss at just over $10,000.

Officers responded to a report of an injury crash in the 400 block of Levee Dr in Manhattan on August 5, 2025, at approximately 7:33 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2012 Chevy Silverado driven by Ysidoro Martinez Arguello, 55, of Manhattan struck a 2015 Harley Motorcycle driven by Donald Taylor, 71, of Manhattan. Taylor was transported by LifeStar to KU Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Arguello was issued a citation for inattentive driving, no proof of insurance and no proof of driver’s license.

Zackery Harper, 28, of Manhattan was arrested on August 5, 2025, at approximately 12:03 p.m. on a Geary County District Court warrant for probation Violation. Harper was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 1000 block of Pierre St in Manhattan on August 5, 2025, at approximately 4:39 p.m. Officers listed a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old man as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect took two bags of Milwaukee power tools from their vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,300. Anyone with information, contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Derek Blea, 32, of Manhattan was arrested on August 5, 2025, at approximately 10:31 p.m. on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear and three Manhattan Municipal Court warrants for three counts of failure to appear. These warrants stem from original charges of violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act, two counts of revocation of probation, and driving while suspended. Blea was issued a total bond of $29,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
