Riley County Police are investigating a theft reported Thursday morning at Home Depot in Manhattan.

Officers filed the report Sept. 25 around 10:17 a.m. in the 600 block of Seth Child Road. Police said a known 46-year-old woman was accused of stealing power tools from the store. The estimated loss was valued at $3,611.55.

Anyone with information can contact RCPD or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Tips submitted through Crime Stoppers allow callers to remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

The Riley County Police Department says two people are in custody following a two-month investigation into a string of vehicle burglaries.

According to Wednesday’s report, 19-year-old Adyson Westgate of Wamego was arrested Monday on Hayes Drive for two counts of criminal use of a financial card and one count of vehicle burglary. She was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

The next day, 25-year-old Jesup McClelland of Manhattan was arrested on Freemont Avenue for three counts of criminal use of a financial card. His bond was set at $12,000, and he remains in the Riley County Jail.

Police credited community members who shared security footage that helped with the case. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of these burglaries and hasn’t reported it is urged to call RCPD at 785-537-2112.

Andre Chislum, 29, of Manhattan, was arrested on September 2, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., in the 1300 block of Flint Hills Place in Manhattan for aggravated robbery and aggravated battery. These charges stem from a report filed in July 2025. Chislum was issued a total bond of $100,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Jennifer Woody, 44, of Wamego, was arrested on September 2, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road in Manhattan, on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This warrant stems from an original charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Woody was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report of forgery and identity theft in the 2700 block of Bent Tree Drive in Manhattan, on September 2, 2025, at approximately 5:13 p.m. A 74-year-old woman was listed as the victim when it reported an unknown suspect stole a check and altered it to redirect the payment. Officers filed a report for two counts of battery of a law enforcement officer and attempted battery on a law enforcement officer in the 1800 block of College Avenue in Manhattan, on September 2, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m. A 38-year-old man was listed as the suspect when it was reported he kicked an officer while being restrained on September 1 and then battered a corrections officer and attempted to batter another on September 2. Dylan Peterson, 38, of Manhattan, was arrested on September 2, at approximately 4:14 p.m., for battery of a law enforcement officer (university/campus police), battery of a law enforcement officer (county or city officer) and attempted battery on a law enforcement officer. Peterson was issued a total bond of $16,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Wendell Parrish, 42, of Scottsdale, Ariz., was arrested on September 2, 2025, at approximately 2:05 p.m., in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road in Manhattan, on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. This warrant stems from an original charge of interference with a law enforcement officer. Parrish was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Zachary Tilton, 37, of Manhattan, was arrested on September 2, 2025, at approximately 11:23 a.m., in Pottawatomie County on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. This warrant stems from an original charge of driving while on a suspended license. Tilton was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Riley County Police are investigating a theft reported Friday evening in the 600 block of Highland Ridge Drive. Officers say an 18-year-old man reported his Cartier watch was stolen during an attempted purchase. The loss is valued at $12,000.

Police are also investigating a burglary reported Friday morning in the 400 block of McCall Road. Officers say a 35-year-old man reported that a suspect broke into his storage unit and stole approximately $1,300 worth of items.

Officers responded to the report of a crash near the intersection of Westwood Road and Fort Riley Blvd., on August 26, 2025, at approximately 3:43 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2017 Toyota driven by Semaj Kelly, 20, of Fort Riley, had struck a 2010 Toyota driven by Justin Shaver, 29, of Morganville. Kelly was issued a citation for failure to yield at a green light and having no driver’s license. Both vehicles were towed.

Joseph Hodges, 50, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 26, 2025 at approximately 11:23 a.m., in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road in Manhattan on a Pottawatomie County District Court warrant for failure to appear. Hodges was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

A Manhattan man was arrested Saturday after police say he attempted to steal a woman’s purse and later assaulted another woman.

According to the RCPD, officers filed a report for attempted aggravated robbery in the 1100 block of Bluemont Avenue at around 5:07 p.m. on Aug. 23. A 21-year-old woman told police that a man tried to take her purse before running away.

A short time later, officers filed a second report for domestic battery in Manhattan at approximately 5:19 p.m. A 75-year-old woman was identified as the victim in that case.

Police arrested James Moore, 40, of Manhattan, around 7:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of Cheryl Terrace. He faces charges of attempted aggravated robbery and domestic battery.

Moore was booked into the Riley County Jail and remains confined without bond at the time of the report.

Rogelio Juarez Jr., 23, of Amarillo, Texas, was arrested on August 24, 2025, at approximately 10:07 a.m. in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road on a Riley County District Court warrant for aggravated assault, criminal use of weapons and aggravated endangering of a child. This warrant stems from original charges on August 10, 2025. Juarez Jr. was issued a total bond of $100,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers responded to the report of an injury crash in the 200 block of Westwood Road on August 24, 2025, at approximately 3:43 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found an unknown vehicle hit a pedestrian, Clark Trawick, 44, of Manhattan. Trawick was transported to Via Christi for treatment of major injuries by Riley County EMS and later transferred to Stormont Vail in Topeka. Further investigation discovered the vehicle was a 2008 Honda Pilot. This case remains under investigation at the time of this report.

Officers responded to the report of an injury motorcycle crash near in the 4200 block of Kimball Avenue in Manhattan, on August 23, 2025, at approximately 9:24 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a Harley Davidson ridden by Christopher Howell, 28, of Junction City, had lost control and crashed after going through water in the roadway. Howell declined treatment by Riley County EMS.

Officers later filed a report for domestic battery in Manhattan on August 23, at approximately 5:19 p.m. A 75-year-old woman was listed as the victim and a 40-year-old man was listed as the suspect. James Moore, 40, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 23, at approximately 7:20 p.m., in the 2300 block of Cheryl Terrace in Manhattan, for attempted aggravated robbery and domestic battery. Moore was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for domestic battery in Manhattan on August 23, 2025, at approximately 1:16 a.m. A 58-year-old woman was listed as the victim and a 63-year-old man was listed as the suspect. Richard Santiago, 63, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 23 at approximately 1:39 p.m. in the 100 block of Seth Child Road for domestic battery and interference with a law enforcement officer. Santiago was issued a total bond of $5,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report

Kenneth Scott, 64, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 22, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. Scott was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Lataija Scott, 29, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 22, 2025, at approximately 4:11 p.m., on a Geary County District Court warrant. Scott was issued a total bond of $250,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Chad McCandless, 33, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 22, 2025, at approximately 5:32 a.m., on a Jefferson County (Colo.) District Court warrant. McCandless was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

The RCPD reported 24 incidents and 11 arrests between Aug. 22 and Aug. 23.

According to the incident log, officers responded to multiple calls including non-injury crashes on Eureka Terrace, N. Manhattan Avenue and Beechwood Terrace. Reports also included larcenies at Walmart and Rickel’s Liquor in Manhattan, a criminal threat at Ogden Elementary, and several domestic-related cases. Officers additionally handled a DUI arrest early Saturday morning at Leavenworth Street and N. 14th Street.

Among the arrests, 21-year-old Caitlyn Nicole Norman of Junction City was arrested for driving under the influence after a stop in the 300 block of N. 14th Street. Bond was set at $750. Richard D. Santiago, 63, of Manhattan was taken into custody early Saturday for domestic battery and interference with law enforcement, with bond set at $5,000. Police also arrested 26-year-old Samuel Jordan Zachary Thomas of Junction City for DUI, 42-year-old Stacie Renae Espinosa of Topeka for probation violation, and 36-year-old Christopher James Collins of Lincoln, Nebraska on an extradition warrant.

Additional arrests over the two days involved probation violations, theft, and shoplifting charges.

Jackson Tanner, 22, of Manhattan was arrested in the 1900 block of Denison Avenue at approximately 10:17 p.m., for driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to stop at an accident, failure to report an accident with an unattended vehicle and trespass on property with critical infrastructure. Tanner was issued a total bond of $3,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report of theft in the 500 block of Manhattan Avenue on August 21, 2025, at approximately 3:03 p.m. A 54-year-old man was listed as the victim when it was reported a known 32-year-old female suspect stole his wallet. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $3,500.
