Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday evening following a three-vehicle crash in Manhattan.

Riley County Police say officers responded to the scene around 6:46 p.m. Nov. 18 near Hayes Drive and McCall Road. Investigators reported that a 2014 Ford Focus driven by 71-year-old Randy Welter of Manhattan failed to yield while making a left-hand turn, causing a 2015 Chrysler 200 driven by 19-year-old Callen Barta, also of Manhattan, to crash into it.

After the initial collision, Barta’s vehicle struck a 2016 Toyota Corolla driven by 18-year-old Jackson West of Manhattan while attempting to stop.

Welter and his passenger, 65-year-old Teresa Frazier of Manhattan, were transported to Via Christi for treatment. Police issued Welter a citation for failure to yield the right of way.

A Manhattan man was injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a car while riding an electric bicycle, according to the Riley County Police Department.

Officers responded to the crash Oct. 1 around 12:35 p.m. near Bluemont Avenue and 4th Street. Police said a 2011 Toyota Prius driven by Ahmed Azizi, 24, of Manhattan, struck Bowen Hou, 32, of Manhattan, who was riding an E-bike.

Hou was transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Azizi was cited for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing.

A Junction City woman was injured Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash at Westwood Road and Fort Riley Boulevard, according to the Riley County Police Department.

Officers responded to the collision Sept. 26 around 5:27 p.m. Police said a Mazda RX-8 driven by Andrew Depuy, 28, of Manhattan, collided with a Toyota RAV4 driven by Jeremy Riley, 44, of Junction City.

A passenger in the Toyota, Jessica Riley, 38, of Junction City, was transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of her injuries. A child, Ayden Depuy, 7, of Manhattan, was also in the Mazda but was not reported injured.

Jeremy Riley was cited for failing to yield the right of way at an intersection.

Officers responded to a report of an injury crash in the 400 block of Levee Dr in Manhattan on August 5, 2025, at approximately 7:33 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2012 Chevy Silverado driven by Ysidoro Martinez Arguello, 55, of Manhattan struck a 2015 Harley Motorcycle driven by Donald Taylor, 71, of Manhattan. Taylor was transported by LifeStar to KU Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Arguello was issued a citation for inattentive driving, no proof of insurance and no proof of driver’s license.

Zackery Harper, 28, of Manhattan was arrested on August 5, 2025, at approximately 12:03 p.m. on a Geary County District Court warrant for probation Violation. Harper was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 1000 block of Pierre St in Manhattan on August 5, 2025, at approximately 4:39 p.m. Officers listed a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old man as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect took two bags of Milwaukee power tools from their vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,300. Anyone with information, contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Derek Blea, 32, of Manhattan was arrested on August 5, 2025, at approximately 10:31 p.m. on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear and three Manhattan Municipal Court warrants for three counts of failure to appear. These warrants stem from original charges of violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act, two counts of revocation of probation, and driving while suspended. Blea was issued a total bond of $29,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

A Manhattan man was hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by a car.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened just after 10:30 p.m. at K-18/Fort Riley Blvd and South 5th Street. Officials say a Toyota Avalon driven by 61-year-old Penny Peterson, of Junction City was eastbound when her vehicle struck 30-year-old Manuel Fischer, who entered the roadway from the north.

Fischer was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka with a suspected serious injury.

Peterson was not injured.
