Three people were injured in two related crashes late Friday night on K-18 eastbound, about half a mile east of the K-114 junction.

The first incident occurred around 11:35 p.m. when 18-year-old Trinity Sproul of Wamego lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer and struck a parked 2007 Pontiac G6 on the shoulder. The Pontiac then hit two pedestrians who were standing in front of the vehicle. The pedestrians—29-year-old Koltyn Moore of Manhattan and 40-year-old Rod Marti of Milwaukee, Wisconsin—were both transported to Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan with suspected serious injuries. Sproul reported possible injuries but was not transported.

Shortly after the initial crash, a second vehicle traveling eastbound—a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz driven by 34-year-old Frank Macias of Upland, California—struck debris from the first crash. Macias was also taken to Via Christi with suspected minor injuries.

A Manhattan man was cited over the weekend after striking a pedestrian with her truck Friday afternoon.

The Riley County Police Department says 26-year-old Jason Bryant was driving in the 800 block of North 3rd Place when the incident occurred. The pedestrian, 24-year-old Samantha Taylor, also of Manhattan, was transported to Via Christ for treatment of her injuries.

Bryant was cited for failing to yield to pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Officers filed a report of an injury accident at the corner of Anderson and Manhattan Avenues on December 17, 2024, at approximately 10:49 AM.  Officers report a 72-year-old male drove into a barrier. David Livingston of Manhattan was transported by EMS to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries.

Officers filed a report of aggravated battery on December 17, 2024, at approximately 6:10 PM in the 400 block of Clydesdale Drive in Ogden. Officers report Nicholas Pounds, 17, of Ogden, threw a metal chair at another resident. Legend Brown, 16, stepped in the middle of the altercation pushing Pounds to the ground and  assaulting him.  Both Pounds and Brown were arrested.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. Using Crime Stoppers allows you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

A Manhattan man was taken to a local hospital on Friday after he drove his car into a concrete building.

Officers responded to the corner of S. Seth Child Road and Farm Bureau Road at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon to find a man injured after he struck a concrete building in his 2014 GMC Sierra.

Officers report that the man, 42-year-old James Miller of Manhattan, was transported by EMS to Via Christi in Manhattan for a suspected serious injury. He was later transported to Stormont Vail for more advanced care. His status as of Monday is unknown.
