The Riley County Police Department is investigating a report of aggravated indecent liberties with a child filed Friday evening in Manhattan.

Officers filed the report around 5:32 p.m. Nov. 21. A 3-year-old girl was listed as the victim, and a 22-year-old man known to the victim was listed as the suspect.

Due to the nature of the case, police said no additional information will be released at this time.

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 11:58 PM, officers responded to a report of a possible gunshot in the 1300 block of Laramie Street. Officers on the scene heard a noise similar to that of a gunshot and, upon further investigation, found evidence confirming that a round had been fired by an unknown subject in a nearby parking garage.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 2:37 PM, officers filed a report in Manhattan regarding a series of serious criminal offenses. The report included charges of domestic battery, criminal threat, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated impersonation of a law enforcement officer.

Jeremy Barker, 45, of Manhattan, was arrested just minutes later at around 2:44 PM. He was taken into custody on probable cause for aggravated false impersonation, domestic battery, aggravated kidnapping, and criminal threat. His bond was set at $150,000, and he was confined at the time of the report.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, no further details have been released at this time.

Officers filed a report of theft in the 400 block of S. 6th Street on January 13, 2025, at approximately 3:33 PM.  Officers listed a 53-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a known subject stole a phone from the victim. Total loss associated with this report is approximately $1,000.
