A Manhattan woman has been arrested following an investigation into a burglary and credit card misuse that occurred earlier this year.

Riley County police filed the original report on June 15, 2025, at approximately 7 p.m., listing Beto’s Meat Market as the victim. According to the report, a known individual unlawfully used a credit card at the business. The case involved allegations of burglary, theft of property or services, and criminal use of a financial card.

On Nov. 4, officers arrested Tiffany Fernandez, 43, of Manhattan, in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road. Fernandez was taken into custody on requested charges of burglary, theft of property or services, and criminal use of a financial card. She was issued a total bond of $10,000 and remained confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of the report.

Riley County police are investigating a burglary reported Monday morning at a Manhattan business.

Officers filed the report at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Nov. 3 in the 100 block of South Seth Child Road. Mead Lumber was listed as the victim after an unknown suspect reportedly broke into the business and stole cash from the register along with various tools from the store.

The estimated total loss is $2,100. No suspects have been identified.

Riley County police are investigating a vehicle theft that occurred early Monday morning in Manhattan.

Officers filed the report at approximately 3:12 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2025, in the 200 block of Northfield Drive. A 63-year-old woman reported that a 58-year-old man known to her took her 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe without permission.

The estimated loss from the theft is $5,000. No arrests had been announced at the time of the report.

A local business reported a burglary early Tuesday morning in central Manhattan, prompting an investigation by the Riley County Police Department.

Officers filed the report at approximately 6:18 a.m. on Oct. 29 in the 1100 block of Third Street. Antojitos El Sol was listed as the victim after it was reported that an unknown suspect broke into the business and stole a cash register.

The estimated total loss from the incident is $1,280. Police have not announced any arrests in the case.

Officers filed a report for rape in Manhattan on Oct. 2, 2025 at approximately 7:45 p.m. A 19-year-old woman is listed as the victim and an unknown man was listed as the suspect. Benigno Aquino Jr., 41, of Salina, was arrested on Oct. 2 at approximately 6:13 p.m. in the 1700 block of Fair Lane on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This arrest stems from original charges of possession of methamphetamine. Aquino was issued a total bond of $8,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Cherlynn Rachel, 32, of Lawrence, was arrested on Oct. 2 at approximately 2:19 p.m. in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This arrest stems from original charges of three counts of domestic battery. Rachel was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Pamela Hall, 20, of Manhattan, was arrested on Oct. 2 at approximately 1:08 p.m. in the 100 block of N. 4^th Street on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This arrest stems from original charges of two counts of criminal threat and two counts of battery. Hall was issued a total bond of $5,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

Officers filed a report of battery on a law enforcement officer in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road on Oct. 2 at approximately 12:04 p.m. A 20-year-old man was listed as the victim and a 35-year-old man was listed as the suspect. Wylee Schmit, 35, of Manhattan, was arrested for battery of a law enforcement officer on Oct. 2 at approximately 12:36 p.m. Schmit was issued a total bond of $6,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Malina Regier, a 29-year-old woman from Mission, Kansas, was arrested on January 28, 2025, at around 8:22 AM in the 400 block of N. 11th Street. Regier faces charges of stalking and violating a protection order twice.

Her bond has been set at $20,000, but she was not in custody at the time of this report.

Officers in Riley County have arrested a local man for failure to appear in court for a preliminary evaluation.

Police arrested Anthony Sutton, 42, of Manhattan on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. on a Riley County District Court warrant for failing to appear in court. The charge stems from a Sept. 25, 2024 arrest where Sutton was charged with aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon.

Sutton’s bond in this case has been set at $25,000. He remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
