Officers filed a report of criminal damage to property and intimidation of a witness or victim at approximately 6:34 p.m. on Oct. 22, 2025 in Manhattan. A 27-year-old woman was listed as the victim and 33-year-old man known to the victim was listed as the suspect. Michael Brooks, 33, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 9:08 p.m. in Manhattan for criminal damage to property and intimidation of a witness or victim. Brooks was issued a total bond of $6,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

William Benner, 24, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the 400 block of Fort Riley Blvd., on a Riley County District Court warrant and a Manhattan Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear. This arrest stems from original charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license, respectively. Benner was also charged with interference with a law enforcement officer and trafficking contraband into a correctional facility. Benner was issued a total bond of $18,500 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report of vehicle theft in the 800 block of Laramie at approximately 10:16 a.m. on Oct. 22. A 19-year-old man was listed as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole his Honda motorcycle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is $2,700.

A former Wabaunsee County correctional officer has been arrested following a probe by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities say 48-year-old Jeffery Patrick turned himself in Sunday at the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested on a charge of mistreatment of a confined person.

The KBI says the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office asked for help in May after learning a correctional officer may have been taking money from an inmate for personal use. The alleged incidents happened between March and May at the Wabaunsee County Jail, where Patrick worked until he was fired in June.

Patrick was booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail. Investigators say no further details are being released.

Jose Orona, 28, of Garden City, was arrested on March 3, 2025, at approximately 1:30 in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road.  Orona was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for aggravated battery, driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, and reckless driving. Total bond was set at $5,500. Orona was confined at the time of this report.

Thomas Jackson, 35, of Park City, was arrested on March 3, 2025, at approximately 1:44 PM in the 200 block of N. 5th Street. Jackson was arrested on the probable cause offense of burglary. Total bond was set at $5,000. Jackson was confined at the time of this report.

Joseph Marlow, 25, of Manhattan, was arrested on March 3, 2025, at approximately 7:20 PM in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road. Marlow was arrested on the probable cause offense of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Total bond was set at $125,000. Marlow was confined at the time of this report.

Officers responded to a theft report in the 3200 block of Kimball Ave. on February 22, 2025, at 11:55 AM. A 54-year-old male reported that his white enclosed Pace Arrow trailer was stolen by an unknown suspect, with an estimated loss of $7,000.

Matthew Klingforth, 18, of Haysville, was arrested on February 22, 2025, at approximately 5:01 PM in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road. The arrest came after Klingforth was served with a Riley County District Court warrant for several serious charges, including rape, aggravated sexual battery, and sexual battery.

His bond was set at $50,000, and is currently in custody at the Riley County jail.

On February 13, 2025, Kody Nations, 31, of Ogden, was arrested in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road around 1:45 PM.

The arrest was made based on a Riley County District Court warrant, with charges including burglary, theft of property or services, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespass. Nations is currently confined at the Riley County Jail, and his bond has been set at $10,000.

Accidents and Incidents:

The Riley County Police Department responded to a variety of incidents on February 8 and February 9, 2025, including accidents, criminal activity, and other law enforcement matters:

• Accidents: On February 8, two notable accidents were reported, including one injury accident at 7:34 PM at 1011 Westloop Place (McDonald’s), Manhattan. Additionally, a non-injury accident occurred at Bluemont Ave & North 4th Street at 11:34 AM.
• Battery and Domestic Incidents: A battery incident was reported at 11:54 PM on the 1200 block of Fremont Street, Manhattan. Another domestic-related incident occurred later in the evening at 10:43 PM.
• Reckless Driving: A reckless driving incident was reported at 4:43 PM at Anneberg Park, Manhattan, with another following shortly thereafter.

Arrests:

Several individuals were arrested in connection with various crimes during this period:

1. Michael Paul Beasley Jr. (36, Fort Lauderdale, FL) was arrested at 5:12 AM on February 9 for possession of marijuana at Manhattan Regional Airport. His bond was set at $750.
2. Nicholas Michael Schmidt (23, Lenexa, KS) was arrested at 12:37 AM on February 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, following a traffic stop on Thurston Street. His bond was set at $750.
3. Caesar Ray Leonard Brown (32, Wamego, KS) was arrested for criminal damage to property at 11:27 PM on February 8. He is being held with a bond was set at $2,000.
4. Shirae Lashawn Jefferson (39, Prattville, AL) was arrested for DUI on February 8 at 5:21 PM in Anneberg Park. She is being held with a bond of $750.
5. Ryan Allen Larson (22, Manhattan, KS) faced two separate arrests. He was initially arrested at 10:00 AM on February 8 for burglary, with a bond of $4,000. He was later arrested at 9:53 AM on February 8 on a failure to appear warrant, with a bond of $1,000. He was confined in the Riley County jail at the time of this report.

Accidents and Traffic Incidents:

The Riley County Police Department responded to a series of traffic-related incidents on February 7 and February 8, 2025.

• A non-injury accident occurred on the 1100 block of North 3rd Street on February 7 at 10:38 AM.
• Another accident was reported on Woodland Street & Anderson Avenue around 1:00 PM on February 7.
• A third accident occurred near Fancy Creek Rd & Tuttle Creek Blvd in Randolph at 9:46 PM on February 7.
• Several other traffic-related incidents, including traffic stops and property findings, were also reported, including a traffic stop on North 16th St & Anderson Ave at 9:55 PM on February 7.

Arrests Made:

Riley County Police reported several arrests on February 7 and 8, 2025:

1. Matthew Christman (22, Manhattan, KS) was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at 2:24 AM on February 8. His bond is set at $750.
2. Josie Delgado Hernandez (42, Manhattan, KS) was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. She was taken into custody at 10:01 PM on February 7. Her bond was set at $308.
3. Isaiah Michael Pipkin (23, Manhattan, KS) was arrested for criminal trespass after remaining in defiance of an order from the property owner. He was arrested on the 1800 block of Clafin Road on February 7 at 9:48 PM. His bond is set at $500.
4. Eugene Milton (65, Manhattan, KS) was arrested on a probation violation at 6:05 PM on February 7. He was confined at the Riley County Jail with a bond of $1,500​
