A Manhattan man was hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by a car.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened just after 10:30 p.m. at K-18/Fort Riley Blvd and South 5th Street. Officials say a Toyota Avalon driven by 61-year-old Penny Peterson, of Junction City was eastbound when her vehicle struck 30-year-old Manuel Fischer, who entered the roadway from the north.

Fischer was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka with a suspected serious injury.

Peterson was not injured.

One person was injured Sunday evening following a head on crash near Junction City High School.

According to the Geary County Sheriff’s Office, a passenger car and a pickup collided at the intersection of K-18 and North Ritter Road at around 6 p.m. Authorities say the driver of the passenger car, Jeremias Wilcox, of Junction City, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, causing the crash.

The other driver, Joshua Zumbrunn, of Wakefield, was transported to Stormont Vail for medical evaluation.
