The state of Kansas saw a record turnout for last month’s general election according to state election officials earlier this week.

The Kansas State Board of Canvassers met Monday to certify the results of the Nov. 5 election that saw President-elect Donald Trump carry the state’s 6 electoral votes with ease over Vice President Kamala Harris by 16 points, the third consecutive time he’s carried the state. Kansas elections director Bryan Caskey said the Nov. 5 vote broke three records in the state. In total, 1.34 million people voted with more than 2 million being registered to vote. The state also set a record for early in-person voting.

Kansas secretary of state Scott Schwab said Monday that his office will review this election to see if the state needs any legislative fixes to help the vote run smoothly. Schwab and Caskey reported that they did not seen any signs of voter fraud in this election. Locally, turnout was relatively low in comparison to the last two Presidential elections. In Riley County, 61% of registered voters turned out to the polls this year, which is down from 67% turnout in 2020 and 65% turnout in 2016.
