Thanks to transfers and a couple NFL-bound former starters, Kansas State will look a little different when they run out onto the field to play in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix on Dec. 26.

On Wednesday, K-State released its first updated depth chart since the regular season ended, and there are multiple changes after some postseason roster churn.

As of Thursday, the Wildcats had 14 players from last years’ roster in the portal, and two others (DJ Giddens and Jacob Parrish) have declared for the draft a year early.

One of the best running backs in Kansas State history is ready for the next chapter of his career.

Junior DJ Giddens announced Saturday that he would be skipping his senior season in Manhattan and declaring for the upcoming NFL Draft in April.

“Growing up in Junction City, I always knew what a great program Kansas State football was,” Giddens said in a statement on his social media. ” I wasn’t sure if I’d have the opportunity to play there. But I worked hard, and it turned out to be a life-changing opportunity.”

The former Blue Jay star worked hard to get to where he is now, starting as an unheralded greyshirt with one D-1 offer after a stellar high school career. He redshirted in 2021 and spent the 2022 season second on the depth chart behind two-time consensus All-America running back Deuce Vaughn. Giddens firmly took hold of the top spot in 2023, outshining Florida State transfer Treshaun Ward as a sophomore to help lead K-State to a Pop-Tarts Bowl win.
