Kid Rock made a surprise appearance at Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan’s birthday party in Nashville on Feb. 8. But what started as a jam session took a sharp turn when the crowd didn’t clap along.

Rock joined the band—featuring Bryan on keys—for Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Proud Mary. At first, everything was smooth, with fan videos capturing a solid performance. But when Rock urged the crowd to clap, not everyone complied.

Frustrated, he stopped the band. “Fuck them. Fuck them. Hey, hey, stop. If you ain’t gonna clap, we ain’t gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.” he declared, leading an exaggerated demo of proper clapping.

The show resumed briefly, but Rock wasn’t satisfied. When the audience still didn’t clap enough, he snapped. “You know what, fuck y’all. You ain’t gonna clap, I’m gone,” he said before storming off.

Bryan and the band carried on, but Rock never returned.

New York Dolls’ David Johansen Battling Stage 4 Cancer, Fund Launched for Treatment

David Johansen, legendary frontman of the New York Dolls, has revealed he’s been privately battling stage 4 cancer and a brain tumor since 2020. Now, facing mounting medical costs, he’s turning to the music community for help.

After suffering a serious fall in November 2024, Johansen underwent surgery for a broken back, leaving him bedridden and in severe pain. To aid his recovery, Sweet Relief has launched the David Johansen Fund, raising money for round-the-clock care, physical therapy, and living expenses.

Despite his struggles, Johansen remains hopeful. “I’ve never been one to ask for help, but this is an emergency,” he shared. Fans can support by donating or purchasing a special edition T-shirt with proceeds going directly to his treatment.

A true rock icon, Johansen’s influence spans from punk pioneer with the Dolls to his Buster Poindexter persona, film roles, and radio hosting on SiriusXM. Most recently, he was featured in Martin Scorsese’s documentary Personality Crisis: One Night Only.

Super-producer Andrew Watt just scored big at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, taking home ‘Best Rock Album’ for his co-writing and production on The Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds. Watt accepted the award on behalf of the legendary band during the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony.

This latest win adds to Watt’s growing list of Grammy triumphs, including ‘Producer of the Year’ (2021) and ‘Best Rock Album’ (2023) for his work with Ozzy Osbourne. With hits spanning rock and pop, Watt continues to prove he’s a powerhouse behind the boards.

Def Leppard launched their first concert of the year on Saturday, January 18th, at Feria Estatal De León in León, Mexico, but did so without their longtime guitarist, Vivian Campbell. Filling in for Campbell was Phil Collen’s trusted guitar tech, John Zocco, who stepped up to join the legendary rockers on stage.

Frontman Joe Elliott addressed the crowd during the performance, explaining Campbell’s absence. Vivian was unable to be there as he continues his cancer treatment.

This isn’t the first time Zocco has been called up to replace Campbell. Back in October, Campbell also missed a private show in Nashville during the Daimler Truck Customer Appreciation Event, with Zocco stepping in to handle guitar duties for that performance as well.

Despite the lineup adjustment, Def Leppard delivered a powerful set. Meanwhile, the rock community continues to rally behind Campbell as he focuses on his health.

Alex Lifeson Talks Jamming with Geddy Lee, Rules Out Rush Reunion Without Neal Peart

Rush fans may take comfort in knowing that guitarist Alex Lifeson still regularly jams with former bandmate Geddy Lee, but in a recent interview, Lifeson made it clear there’s no plan for the iconic band to formally reunite. The absence of legendary drummer Neal Peart, who passed away in 2020, remains the defining reason.

A Rush reunion came up, and Lifeson recalled the special guest appearance at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute show: “The energy was fantastic around that show, I know, and some days I wake up wanting to go out and tour again and some days I don’t. For forty years Rush included Neil, and I don’t think putting some new version together would have the same magic.” The bond between the three musicians ran deeper than music, and Lifeson emphasized that Rush without Peart simply wouldn’t feel like Rush.

While a full reunion is off the table, Lifeson and Lee have shared the stage since Peart’s passing for two meaningful events.
