Ceiling Tiles Fall During Bad Omens Show in Melbourne Injuring Fans

Chaos struck during Bad Omens’ performance at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Wednesday night (Jan. 22) when parts of the ceiling tiles came crashing down at the end of the set.

The band was performing their hit “Just Pretend,” the penultimate track of the night, when a confetti cannon went off, sending paper shreds into the crowd. But fans got more than they bargained for as chunks of ceiling tiles dislodged and fell, injuring several attendees.

Fan-shot footage below shows a tile falling around the 4:40 mark, accompanied by audible gasps from the crowd. One fan, Sarah, described the terrifying moment: “I was recording on Snapchat when it happened and my video cut as I got hit and my phone flung a meter away from me as I dropped to the ground, I was covered in blood from the girl next to me and she was very out of it, seems as if she was looking at the confetti and it’s [the tile debris] bounced off my hand and got her straight in the face.”

While the band seemed unaware of the incident, Wall of Sound reported soft tissue injuries and other impacts from the falling tiles. The night was unforgettable—for all the wrong reasons.

Rise Against Drop New Song “Nod,” Announce 2025 Tour

Rise Against have returned with “Nod,” their first new song in three years. The powerful track arrives as the band gears up for an extensive 2025 tour, kicking off in the UK and EU before heading stateside for the Rise of the Roach Tour, a co-headlining trek with Papa Roach.

“‘Nod’ is a rally cry and a call to action, fueled by compassion, camaraderie, and the collective urge for change,” says frontman Tim McIlrath. “‘Nod’ is about the solace we find in community. It’s the comfort of knowing we’re not alone. This comfort can temper our anger and our frustration, at least temporarily.”

The track sets the tone for what promises to be a fiery year ahead for the band.

Society 1’s Wild Legacy Explored in New Documentary “Everyone Dies”

Known for their jaw-dropping antics, Society 1 and frontman Matt “The Lord” Zane pushed the boundaries of performance art like few others. Their daring stunts earned them a reputation for taking risks and redefining shock rock.

“No one believes me when I tell them about everything that went down.” Zane says. “It always comes across as some delusional fever dream. So the movie doesn’t leave much to the imagination. It shows actual footage of all of the insanity. There is no room for disbelief by the end of the film. You can love it or hate it but it’s impossible to deny it happened.”

The trailer also included appearances from Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), and Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach).

The film dives into the chaos, including Zane’s infamous record-breaking performance at Download Festival, where he sang while suspended by four meat hooks. Check out the trailer here

Shinedown’s Barry Kerch Joins New TV Series “Boos, Brews, and BBQ”

Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch is taking on a new role as cohost of Boos, Brews, and BBQ, a TV series exploring America’s spookiest cities. The show promises a mix of haunted histories, hidden stories, and mouthwatering barbecue flavors.

Kerch joins BBQ expert Ty Sherrell and Spear Talk podcast host John Guarnieri for this cross-country journey. Together, they’ll uncover eerie tales from haunted towns while firing up the grill to serve bold, smoky creations that match the intensity of their adventures.

The show combines scares, stories, and savory eats for an unforgettable ride.

Coming March 25, 2025, LOLLAPALOOZA: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival (St. Martin’s Press) offers a raw and unfiltered look at the groundbreaking music festival that defined a generation. Written by New York Times bestselling authors Richard Bienstock and Tom Beaujour (Nothin’ But A Good Time), this definitive history captures the chaos, creativity, and cultural revolution that was Lollapalooza’s 1991–1997 heyday.

Through hundreds of fresh interviews with the people who lived it—artists, tour founders, festival organizers, promoters, publicists, stage crews, sideshow performers, record execs, reporters, and roadies—the book reveals the festival’s untamed spirit and its impact on alternative rock and beyond. From backstage antics to seismic shifts in the music industry, LOLLAPALOOZA traces the festival’s role in catapulting alternative rock into the mainstream and reshaping pop culture.

The book features a foreword by Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and exclusive interviews with some of music’s most iconic names, including Perry Farrell and Jane’s Addiction, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, Green Day, Patti Smith, Ice-T, Alice in Chains, Metallica, and more.

Prepare to dive into the madness behind the mosh pits and megastars that made Lollapalooza the ultimate counterculture celebration. This will be the story of a festival that rocked the world—literally.

Saliva Announces Deluxe Album Revelation: Retold and Drops Explosive New Single “Time Bomb”

Hard rock legends Saliva are kicking off 2025 with a bang, unveiling their new deluxe album Revelation: Retold, set to drop January 31 via Judge & Jury Records. Known for their powerhouse touring history and massive streaming numbers, the band is charging into a bold new chapter.

The first taste of the album comes with the release of “Time Bomb,” a hard-hitting track tackling the struggles of a chaotic world. Featuring the gritty vocals of post-grunge standout Peyton Parrish, “Time Bomb” fuses Saliva’s signature intensity with a fresh edge. The single is accompanied by a gripping performance-driven music video, directed by Mason Wright, now available to stream on YouTube.

Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison Postpone Above Ground 4 Benefit Concert in Wake of Los Angeles Wildfires

In light of the devastating wildfires that have swept through Los Angeles, Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) have announced the postponement of the highly anticipated 4th ABOVE GROUND benefit concert. Originally scheduled for January 25 at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA, the event will now take place later this year.

Since its inception in 2018, Above Ground has been dedicated to raising awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention. Despite the delay, Navarro, Morrison, and their team remain committed to the cause while redirecting their focus to the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires.

“Dave, Billy and I know that at this time there is a much greater use of the team’s collective energy, time, and attention” says co-founder and manager Rick Canny. “We will have Above Ground 4 later this year. But right now, the focus is on the immediate needs of friends, our extended families, and the community at large. We would like to thank our partners MusiCares, Goldenvoice, CenterStaging, and Capital Funding Group for supporting us in this decision.”
