WICHITA — It will not be a merry Christmas for the Kansas State men’s basketball team.

After playing a competitive and, at times, fun first half of basketball, the Wildcats completely fell apart the second half of Saturday’s 84-65 loss at Wichita State.

“They were better than us tonight, especially in the second half,” head coach Jerome Tang said. “I thought their staff did a great job of putting a game plan together of how they wanted to attack us, and they really exploited that in the second half. And I thought their guys were just a little bit more connected.”

Prior to Saturday, the Wildcats (6-5) hadn’t played at Koch Arena since 2000, and hadn’t won on the Shockers’ home floor since an overtime victory in 1997. It’s also the first time since 2001 that K-State has lost to to their in-state foes to the south.
