Riley County Police are investigating a forgery and identity theft case that left a Manhattan woman out thousands of dollars.

Officers filed the report Tuesday evening in the 2700 block of Bent Tree Drive. Police said a 74-year-old woman reported that an unknown suspect stole a check and altered it to redirect payment. The total loss is estimated at $3,488.62.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact RCPD or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers allows tipsters to remain anonymous and could qualify them for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Riley County Police are investigating after reports of a burglary occurred early on Monday morning in Manhattan.

Officers filed the report for burglary just prior to 7 a.m. in the 700 block of S. 16th Street. Officers are listing R.M. Baril as the victim when it was reported an unknown subject stole various tools from a construction storage site.

Riley County Police Officers filed a report of vehicle burglary in the 1900 block of College Heights Road on Saturday around 10 A.M.

Officers listed a 20-year-old male as the victim, who reported that a plate carrier and ceramic plates were stolen from his vehicle by an unknown subject. Total loss associated with this report is approximately $3,000.
