<p>A Fort Riley unit is preparing for deployment to Europe, according to an announcement this week from the U.S. Army.</p>
<p>The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will replace the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, as part of a regular rotation of forces to support the United States’ commitment to NATO allies and partners, according to a statement from Army officials.</p>

<p>Officials said they couldn&#8217;t give further details on where the 1st ABCT, part of the “Devil Brigade,” would go. The unit was in Europe in 2022 when President Joe Biden extended its deployment following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.</p>

<p>Fort Riley officials announced Tuesday that, following a directive from the U.S. Army, it is concluding operations of the Commanding General&#8217;s Mounted Color Guard to align more resources with warfighting capability and readiness.</p>
<p>Officials confirmed they will work diligently to find suitable homes for the horses and will keep the community informed throughout the transition.</p>

<p class="ai-optimize-7">More than 450 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division, based in Kansas, marched in the parade. They dressed in Gulf War-era uniforms to represent that part of the Army&#8217;s history.</p>

<p>The 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley will deploy approximately 200 Soldiers to the southern border as part of a mission to protect and defend the territorial integrity of the United States. The deployment, directed by the President, will support Customs and Border Protection&#8217;s efforts at the border.</p>
<p>Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command and Joint Task Force North, the 41st Combat Engineer Company-Armored and the 977th Military Police Company will join the 2,500 forces already stationed at the border. These forces are tasked with augmenting ongoing operations to enhance border security.</p>
<p>This deployment reflects the continued military support to the U.S. Border Patrol in their mission to secure the southern border.</p>

<p>The 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley has returned to the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, for a division-level training rotation.</p>
<p>It’s the third time an entire division has undergone training at the NTC and the 1st Infantry Division’s first time back since 2021.</p>

<p>Traditionally, NTC rotations have been the domain of individual brigades, but divisions now are rotating through the NTC in what officials called “a significant shift aimed at enhancing war-fighting capabilities.” The 1st Infantry Division will deploy its division headquarters and elements of its combat aviation brigade, division artillery brigade and division sustainment brigade to the NTC.</p>
