Year four of Manhattan Parks And Rec’s Arts in the Park takes the summer music series up a notch.  Every Friday evening thru July 28th you’ll be able to see free rock, Country, Blues and Americana music acts performing at The Larry Norvell Bandshell at the heart of Manhattan’s City Park.

Many of the music acts this year are local favorites like Manhattan legends Plastique, The Box Turtles, and Headlight Rivals. Johnny Woods from Oklahoma, Wayne Gottstine from Lawrence will also perform during the series.

Along with the varied genres of free live music, this year organizers, The Art Press Fund, have brought in food and adult beverages. McCools is offering domestic and local craft beers along with different selections of food. There will also be sweet dessert foods like honey cake donuts with lavender sugar, various flavors of kettle corn and ice cream.

The seating opens every Friday night at 7:30 with music beginning around 8pm. The Parks/Rec department have installed brand new bench seating in the center, along with lots of bleacher seating in the back. You can always bring a blanket and lawn chairs with plenty of space on either side in the grass.
