Phase 3 of the runway reconstruction project at Manhattan Regional Airport kicked off Friday, exactly one week after the suspension of all American Airlines services.
Airport Director Brandon Keazer says Phase 3 includes construction that is now halting both commercial and general aviation services.
Phase 3 is scheduled to wrap up July 19th, allowing general aviation services to resume.
Keazer says they anticipate finishing Phase 4 on September 1st, but the exact date of commercial flight resumption is still uncertain.
Keazer says if the airline does not resume services before September 5th, the runway will be open for anyone flying in for the game via private or general aviation services.
