Riley County on Friday saw the number of active COVID-19 cases soar Friday to 411 cases, up from 290 cases Wednesday.

All told, 136 new cases were reported Friday, with 15 more recoveries, for a net gain of 121. The number account for a 20 percent increase in new cases. Since March, the county has totaled 810 positive tests, including five deaths. Friday’s total doubles Wednesday’s number of new reported cases, which was 68.

One positive patient was being monitored Friday at Manhattan’s Ascension Via Christi hospital.

K-State football has announced 7 players on the team have tested positive for COVID-19, according to KMAN contributor Kellis Robinett of the Kansas City Star and Wichita Eagle. Despite, this Robinett reports the Wildcats will press on with practice, leading up to their Sept. 12 season opener against Arkansas State.
