75 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 86 recoveries have been reported in Riley County since Wednesday. This brings the county’s total number of active cases to 761 and recoveries to 807.

1199, or 76.08 percent, of the positive cases that have been reported in Riley County have involved patients who are 18 to 24-years old.

Ascension Via Christi Hospital currently has three patients who have tested positive.

The Riley County Health Department is changing the test-result reporting procedure. Going forward, all Riley County testing facilities are required to report test results directly to both RCHD and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

The purpose of this change is to give RCHD quicker access to testing data so that it an expedite the contact-tracing process.

RCHD is also reminding the public that close contacts of COVID-19 positive patients are required to quarantine for 14 days even if they test negative.

“You cannot test out of quarantine,” Gibbs said in a press release. “The virus can take up to 14 days of incubation time and that’s the reason behind the 14-day quarantine requirement. If you test negative on day 3, it doesn’t mean you won’t test positive on day 12.”

Those with questions about testing, contact tracing or symptoms can call the Riley County Screening Line at 785-323-6400.
