Riley County saw an additional 37 positive COVID-19 cases come in over the weekend.
Julie Gibbs, Riley County Health Department director, updated the county commission during their meeting Monday.
Along with the additional positive cases, there were 60 more recoveries over the weekend as well.
“As of today, that brings us to a total of 2,251 confirmed positives and out of those, 103 are considered active,” Gibbs said. “We’ve had 2,136 recover. Our percent positive was declining for about seven weeks up until the week before last, (when) it went up to 7.7 percent from 5 percent the week prior to that.”
Ascension Via Christi has reported that it is caring for four COVID-19 positive patients at the hospital, with one in the ICU.  The hospital also reported the county’s 12th COVID-19 related death late Friday, when an 88-year-old female being cared for passed away.
“We are offering another free testing day this Thursday, November 5,” Gibbs said. “It will be at the CiCo Park barns near the fair grounds. We are offering two separate times, from from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m.”
Those interested in getting tested are not required to have a doctor’s note or symptoms to participate.
An outbreak has been identified at Leonardville Nursing Home while the one at Riley County State Bank has expired.
This puts the county’s number of outbreaks at four.
