Riley County health officials confirmed 48 new positive COVID-19 cases Friday along with 32 additional recoveries.
It was the fourth consecutive report with new cases under 100. Ascension Via Christi also continues to care for seven positive patients. Two remain in the Intensive Care Unit. Active cases totaled 311.
While the final January data for new cases won’t be known until Monday, through the first 28 days of January, Riley County logged 958 new cases and 10 additional deaths reported since Dec. 30.
In the past six months, according to data from the health department’s daily case count, the two worst months in terms of new infections were November (51 new cases per day) and December (39 new cases per day). October was the best month, when the county averaged 11 new cases per day. Since the end of July, there have been 25 COVID-19 related deaths. There have been 30 deaths overall.
It should be noted that on July 31, Riley County had 337 recoveries out of 449 total cases (75 percent). As of Jan. 28, that number has pushed to 5,593 out of the total 5,934 cases (94 percent).
