The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers filed a report for attempted aggravated domestic battery and duty of driver to report accident in Manhattan on August 19, 2020, at approximately 10:28 AM. Officers listed a 32-year-old male as the victim and a 32-year-old female as the suspect when it was reported she attempted to hit the male with her vehicle and struck another vehicle in the area then left. Jalisa Carson, 32, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offenses of attempted aggravated domestic battery and duty of driver to report accident. Carson was issued a total bond of $10,000.00 and is no longer confined at the time of this report. 

Officers filed a report for aggravated assault of LEO, driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, possession of marijuana, use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to property, and flee or attempt to elude in the 2100 block of Poyntz Ave in Manhattan on August 19, 2020, at approximately 11:07 PM. Officers listed the State of Kansas, a 24-year-old male. and a 29-year-old male as the victims when it was reported a 22-year-old female failed to stop for officers, drove her vehicle at two officers, crashed her vehicle into a patrol unit,  was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Katheryne Hager, 22, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offenses of two counts of aggravated assault of LEO, driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, possession of marijuana, use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to property, and flee or attempt to elude. Hager was issued a total bond of $30,000.00 causing her to remain confined at the time of this report. 

Officers responded to a report of an injury crash near the intersection of N 16th St and Anderson Ave in Manhattan on August 19, 2020, at approximately 11:13 AM. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2014 Ford Escape driven by Jacie Chestnut,20, of Manhattan had struck a 2013 Volkswagon Passat driven by Tashae Handspike, 41, of Manhattan.  Alexander Handspike, 30, of Manhattan was a passenger in the 2013 Volkswagon Passat and was transported to Via Christi for treatment of minor injuries. Chestnut was issued a citation for failure to yield on a left turn.
