The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law and in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

Officers filed a report for theft by deception and unlawful acts concerning computers in the 800 block of Levee Dr. in Manhattan on February 1, 2023, around 2:15 p.m. Rescare was listed as the victim when it was reported a 33-year-old woman had been clocking in for work from home and inflating time worked resulting in over $4,400 wrongfully paid to her.

Officers filed a report for theft, interference with LEO, violation of a protection order, and driving while suspended in the 4100 block of McDowell Creek Rd. on February 1, 2023, around 7:30 p.m. A 65-year-old man was listed as the victim when he reported a 41-year-old man stole his 2016 Ford F-250. Officers quickly found the suspect and truck in the 700 block of Yuma St. in Manhattan, when they attempted to make contact with the suspect, he ran but was taken into custody a short time later in the same 700 block of Colorado St. Theodore Ayon Jr., 41, of Manhattan, who was also found to have a suspended driver’s license and driving the stolen truck to the residence of an individual he had a no contact order issued for, was arrested for theft, interference with LEO, violation of a protection order, and driving while suspended. Ayon Jr. remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $10,000.
