A portion of North Manhattan Ave. will close for part of the day Thursday to allow work to be completed on the east side of the new Aggieville parking garage.

City officials say the road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. between Moro and Laramie Street. Access to the alley south of Moro will be available during that time.

In addition, the City of Manhattan says extreme heat played a part in two of three water main breaks that occurred last week.

The pipe on Houston Street was reportedly a lateral fracture, which is likely caused by aging infrastructure and happens occasionally, city officials said Monday. The two breaks on Dickens Ave. were radial, meaning the ground shifted and the pressure broke the pipes into pieces, a common occurrence during extreme heat and extreme cold.

The city says all three breaks were repaired within a few hours and only one neighborhood experienced a water service disruption.
