The Junction City and Geary County Drug Operations Group is warning that counterfeit OxyContin pills laced with Fentanyl have been seen at an increasing rate in the region.

These pills are stamped to match the appearance of OxyContin, but carry a potency between 50 to 100 times that of morphine. Overdoses and deaths have increased with the prevalence of the counterfeit pills both locally and nationally.

Users of OxyContin are being reminded to only take pills prescribed by doctors and purchased from pharmacies.
