K-State football offensive coordinator Collin Klein has removed his name from consideration for the same post at Notre Dame.

Heather Dinich of ESPN was first to report Friday morning that Klein declined an offer from the school in South Bend, IND, to remain at his alma mater.

Klein was targeted by Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman after Tommy Rees left his post with the Fighting Irish for the Alabama OC job earlier this week. Klein interviewed with Freeman in South Bend in the past couple days.

The 2012 Heisman runner up just finished his first season as K-State’s offensive coordinator, helping the Wildcats put together a Big 12 Championship run that landed them in the Sugar Bowl.

The Wichita Eagle’s Kellis Robinette noted Friday that Klein’s been mentioned for other OC jobs this offseason.
