One Manhattan doctor has recently founded Kansas Aviation Medicine. Dr. Bradley Harrison of Manhattan Primary Care is a certified Senior Aviation Medical Examiner through the Federal Aviation Administration.

Dr. Harrison told KMAN that he has been certified since 2012 to give flight physicals to pilots. He can give examinations to all classes of pilots, including air transport pilots. He also told KMAN about his recent HIMS (Human Intervention Motivation Study) certification.

“I take care of class one, two, and three pilots with history of DUI’s or alcohol or drug addiction, which has expanded into cases with depression, PTSD, anxiety, and pilots who are treated with anti-depressant medication. As well as it has expanded into pilots with significant medical problems that are complex,” Dr. Harrison said.

Dr. Harrison says he has been doing flight exams for from his primary care office for the past few years, but eventually hopes he will operate out of MHK airport.

“I created Kansas Aviation Medicine to be, my hope, is the leader in the Midwest for aviation medical needs so that pilots can get everything that they need, taken care of in one place,” he said.
