35 wins, a school record 14 road victories and a third consecutive run to Saturday play at the Big 12 Tournament weren’t enough to land Kansas State a spot in the NCAA Baseball Tournament Sunday.

The Cats were left out of the field, despite six Big 12 teams making the tournament, including Oklahoma State hosting a regional this weekend.

The selection committee picked Oklahoma over K-State, despite the Cats sweep of the Sooners earlier in the season and a losing non-conference record for OU, which finished behind K-State in the standings.

In the end, the Cats were hurt by non-conference losses to St. Thomas, Omaha and two to Wichita State plus going 2-4 in the final two weekends of the regular season.

Wake Forest is the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament and the Southeastern Conference had a record-tying 10 teams picked to play in regionals. The 64-team tournament opens Friday in 16 regionals.
