Manhattan High softball split its Saturday trip to Olathe, falling 13-8 to Olathe North before bouncing back with a 9-7 win over Olathe South.

In the opener, Manhattan couldn’t recover from a pair of big innings, as Olathe North used a five-run second and a six-run seventh to pull away.

Manhattan High baseball used a pair of dominant performances to sweep its weekend trip to Garden City, defeating the Buffaloes 14-1 on Friday before beating Dodge City 10-1 on Saturday.

The Indians pounded out 24 hits across the two games, getting standout efforts from Easton Duff and Asher Newton while also turning in strong outings on the mound.

Arizona baseball took advantage of three errors to claim an 11-7 victory over Kansas State Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field, preventing the Wildcats from securing the series sweep.

“We had our opportunities to win that game,” eighth-year head coach Pete Hughes said in a statement. “I thought we did enough offensively, and we came on strong late, but wasn’t enough. We had enough defensive miscues to create some opportunities for Arizona, and that turned out to be the difference of the game.”

Kansas State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie has added another international talent to the 2026-27 roster, as Penn State guard Tèa Clèante — a native of France — signed with the Wildcats, the school announced on Sunday.

“We are excited to add Tèa as she is a dynamic and versatile guard,” said Mittie in a statement. “She can score, distribute and impact the game defensively with her speed and aggressiveness.

Riley County had its first nuisance abatement trial last week, but the legal matter might not be fully resolved for another five to six years, the county commission learned Monday.

The multi-year timeline, county counselor Jacob Hansen told commissioners, would be for the entire appeals process if the case went all the way to the Kansas Supreme Court.

Riley County Police say a Manhattan man is jailed following an investigation into a domestic violence situation over the weekend.

Joseph Taylor, 35, was arrested Saturday on charges of domestic battery, aggravated burglary and criminal deprivation of property. Police listed a 27-year-old woman as the victim.

Taylor was issued a $10,000 bond. He remains confined in the Riley County Jail.

Authorities are investigating an alleged incident over the weekend involving a man threatening a woman with a knife.

Riley County Police say they were called out to the 300 block of North 5th Street Sunday just before 7:30 a.m. The woman, who was not identified reportedly told police a 44-year-old man threatened her, but have released no further information regarding the incident.

A Junction City man was arrested Saturday on a Riley County warrant listing charges of theft, aggravated battery and leaving the scene of an accident.

Riley County Police say 47-year-old Bronson Cameron is charged with two counts of theft, criminal damage to property, aggravated battery and failure to stop at an accident. This incident stems from multiple incidents in September and October 2024.

Cameron was issued a total bond of $40,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail.
