Garden of H.O.P.E. Benefit Concert @ Manhattan Arts Center

Enjoy great music and a great time on Friday, May 17, at 7pm at the Manhattan Arts Center!

The bands playing include:
FUMA, a local alternative-rock 4-piece
The Thundering Cats, a 18-piece big-band
and Alli & Billy, an acoustic duo from Des Moines, Iowa.

The event is a fundraiser for the Garden of H.O.P.E Team, who will be traveling to Kenya, Africa this summer to help construct and sustain a community garden, as well as participate in community improvement.

The event is free of charge, but donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated!

The Brenda Allen Morgan Cancer Benefit Concert @ The Wareham

Brenda’s Brigade presents the Brenda Allen Morgan Cancer Benefit Concert. Door’s open at 6:30pm. Show is from 7pm to 12:30am. See top LOCAL bands Waffle Stomp, Starving in Style, Gradivus, Ashes in Vein, Elctrikchair, Fractured Black, What I’ve Become, and The Field Day Jitters. You can hit the bands up on Facebook. Click any band above to get to their pages. They are competing for a prize. The band that sells the most tickets has their choice of four professionally recorded songs from Bullet Ride Productions or $300 cash.

There will be 2 raffles one for a pair of VIP to Jackyl and the other for a pair of VIP ticket’s to a upcoming show of their choice at Rc Mcgraws.

TICKETS WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE at the door the night of the event.
Other opportunities to purchase tickets will be:
In front of Hastings both Friday July 11th after 4:30pm and Saturday from 11am to 9pm.
Walmart Sunday July 13th and 20th from 11 am to 8pm.

Prairie Wildflower Walk @ Haines Prairie

Please join the wildflower walk with Mike Haddock on the Haines Prairie north of Manhattan starting at 10:00 am Saturday, May 25th.  Meet at the parking lot at 7003 Tuttle Creek Blvd (Outpost Western Store).  You will then drive north on 71st Avenue to the property gate to begin the prairie walk.  Please bring your own water, protective clothing, insect repellent, sunscreen, hiking shoes, snacks and camera.  Please RSVP with Jerry Jost at jjost@klt.org to be personally notified if the walk is cancelled in case of inclement weather.

11th Annual Nelson’s Landing Benefit @ Nelson's Landing

The 11th Annual Nelson’s Landing Benefit will be held on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th.  A Fun Zone hosted by the Riley County High School will be held on Friday at 5:00 pm.  A Jordy Nelson Autograph Session will be held at 6:00 pm at Nelson’s Landing.  There will be a 2 item limit.  A donation is required.  There will be a Golf Tournament at 10:00 am on Saturday at the Leonardville Golf Club.  This is a 4 Person Scramble – $400 per team.  Drive or Ride at 11:00 am to register (Nelson’s Landing).  Depart at Noon – $20 per hand.  Idle Hour – Clay Center; Tailgaters – Vining; Just Left – Linn; Jocks – Waterville.  A Silent Auction will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at Nelson’s Landing.  A Live Auction will begin at 7:00 pm at Nelson’s Landing.  Items will include K-State Items; Packer Items; Chiefs Items; Harley Davidson Items; Outdoor Equipment; Homemade Pies; Gift Baskets and many more items.  This event will benefit Jean Kunze Peterson and Rose Linhardt.
