After initial discussions regarding data centers, Riley County commissioners on Monday still weren’t ready to provide any direction on the future of those facilities in the area.

“The more I learn about this, the more I’m just confused,” commissioner John Ford said. “It literally changes on a dime. You figure out one thing, and then it changes. There’s so much depth to it. It’s insane.”

A Manhattan woman was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple warrants and an additional charge of interference with law enforcement, according to the Riley County Police Department.

Pamela May Hall, 21, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 2:45 a.m. June 20 in the 1100 block of Moro Street.

Hall was wanted on three Riley County District Court warrants, including two for probation violations and one for failure to appear. She was also arrested for interference with a law enforcement officer.

The warrants stem from original charges that include criminal threat, interference with a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.

Hall was issued a total bond of $20,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

An 81-year-old Manhattan woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning near downtown Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of an injury accident at approximately 8:09 a.m. June 19 in the 300 block of North Fifth Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2019 Kia Sportage driven by Mary Margaret Keithley, 81, of Manhattan, had collided with a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Elizabeth Marie Passmore, 36, of St. George.

Three children were passengers in the Pacifica and were not reported to be injured.

Keithley was transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.

A Las Vegas man was arrested Sunday on a Riley County District Court warrant tied to drug distribution charges dating back more than a year.

Martin Frank Stovall, 65, of Las Vegas, was arrested at approximately 3:22 p.m. June 21, 2026, in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road.

Stovall was wanted on a Riley County District Court warrant for distribution of a controlled substance and distribution of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant substances. The warrant stems from an original report filed in February 2025.

He was issued a total bond of $75,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

This arrest stems from a report originally filed in February 2025. Stovall was issued a total bond of $75,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report of aggravated assault, criminal threat, criminal deprivation of property, and disorderly conduct at approximately 8:04 a.m. on June 20 in the 600 block of Poyntz Avenue. Listed victims include a 67-year-old man, a 63-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman. A 60-year-old man was listed as the suspect. Michael Lee Stanfield, 60, of Manhattan, was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of criminal threat, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal deprivation of property. Stanfield was issued a total bond of $29,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Denise Chantel Holder, 39, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 2:40 p.m. on June 18 in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road on a Geary County District Court warrant for probation violation. Holder was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

Passengers in the Pacifica included Elsie Passmore, 7, Penelope Passmore 6, and Dominic Passmore, 3. Keithley was transported to Via Christi Hospital for her injuries and issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.

Joshua James Albrecht, 41, of McPherson, was arrested at approximately 2 p.m. on June 18 in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road on a Saline County District Court warrant for probation violation. Albrecht was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

Officers filed a report of rape at approximately 7:36 a.m. on June 18 in Ogden. A 20-year-old woman was listed as the victim. A 26-year-old man known to the victim was listed as the suspect. Due to the nature of the crime reported, no additional information will be released.

Weather-related delays have pushed back the reopening of Anderson Avenue, according to City of Manhattan officials.

Concrete pouring operations were impacted by recent weather conditions, delaying the project’s completion. Crews made significant progress last week with nine concrete trucks and 30 workers on site, but the roadway is now expected to reopen to through traffic by June 29. Motorists are encouraged to continue following the posted detour route until the street reopens.

The delay also impacts planned road work on Fort Riley Boulevard. Mill and overlay repairs between Poliska Lane and Westwood Road will now begin June 29 and are expected to take six to eight weeks, depending on conditions beneath the existing asphalt surface.

During construction, Fort Riley Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction. In Phase 1, the outside lanes will be closed and access to Westwood Road will be restricted, with a detour available via Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. During Phase 2, the inside lanes will be closed and access to Westwood Road will be limited to right-in, right-out movements.

Sidewalks along Fort Riley Boulevard will remain open throughout the project. City officials noted separate sidewalk closures are expected later this year as part of the K-18 Highway Pedestrian Improvements project, which is scheduled to begin in late August or September.

The Manhattan City Commission has a full agenda for its Tuesday work session, including discussion of adjusting Evergy, Kansas Gas Service and wastewater fees.

Commissioners will consider updates to the city’s wastewater rates and charges for 2027 and provide guidance to city staff. They will take no vote on any of the agenda items next week.
