Flag Day was celebrated Wednesday in Manhattan, as Boy Scouts from Troop 74 commemorated the holiday with the annual flag raising ceremony at City Hall.
Event organizer Stormy Kennedy spoke to KMAN about the local history of the event, and her involvement in the City Hall kiosks about the 101 US Army Division – as well as the importance of the event.
Troop 74 is led by Eric Boudraeux. Eisenhower Middle School Band Director Scott Freeby played Reveille as well as To the Colors, both songs associated with the US Flag.
Mayor Mark Hatesohl also attended the event.
Flag Day is celebrated June 14th commemorating adoption of the US Flag on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
