A Salina man was arrested Thursday night on a Riley County warrant tied to drug-related charges, according to authorities.

Benigno David Aquino Jr., 42, of Salina, was taken into custody at approximately 9:37 p.m. May 21th, 2026, in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road, the location of the Riley County Law Enforcement Center.

Aquino was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, failure to appear and use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia in the human body. The arrest stems from an original report filed in December 2025.

Aquino was issued a total bond of $8,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Kansas State baseball jumped out to a 7-0 lead through four innings and got a stellar start on the mound from Tazwell Butler as the 11th-seeded Wildcats beat seventh-seeded TCU, 9-4, Wednesday night to move on to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Big 12 Baseball Championship at Surprise Stadium.

The Wildcats (30-26) will now face second-seeded West Virginia at 6:30 p.m. CT, Thursday night, in the quarterfinals. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.

Manhattan High baseball is headed back to state after winning its home regional Wednesday at CiCo Park, knocking off rival Junction City and Wichita West.

“It always feels good,” head coach Don Hess said. “I’ve been doing this a long time, and we’ve had some great teams that haven’t been fortunate enough to make it to state. For us to be able to make it to state, it’s amazing every year.”
